How To Design RF Circuits - Synthesisers

چکیده

Introduction Frequency synthesisers form the basis of most radio system designs and their performance is often key to the overall operation. This paper will present an introductory overview of the basic parameters governing the design of a phase locked loop frequency synthesiser and their effects, with the sources of phase noise within a design also being considered. Finally a list of common problems, along with some possible solutions, is giv en in order to assist in the debugging of a non-functional design once assembled. What is a Synthesiser? A synthesiser is a device which takes an input, or source, frequency and from it produces an output frequency which is either directly or indirectly related to it. Possible schemes for direct and indirect synthesisers are shown in figure 1.

Output-Conductance Transition-Free Method for Improving Radio-Frequency Linearity of SOI MOSFET Circuits

In this article, a novel concept is introduced to improve the radio frequency (RF) linearity of partially-depleted (PD) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) MOSFET circuits. The transition due to the non-zero body resistance (RBody) in output conductance of PD SOI devices leads to linearity degradation. A relation for RBody is defined to eliminate the transition and a method to obtain transition-free c...

3-D RF Coil Design Considerations for MRI

High-frequency coils are widely used in medical applications, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems. A typical medical MRI includes a local radio frequency transmit/receive coil. This coil is designed for maximum energy transfer or wave transfer through magnetic resonance. Mutual inductance is a dynamic parameter that determines the energy quantity to be transferred wirelessly by ele...

Design and Implementation of Ambient RF Energy Harvesting Circuits

This paper presents design strategies and measurements of two RF energy harvesting circuits working at UHF frequencies (around 480 MHz). Ambient RF sources are considered so for the circuit designs low power levels have been assumed. The circuits were implemented and the RF/DC conversion efficiency was measured. Index Terms – Matching network, RF energy harvesting, schottky diode, voltage doubler.
